The question is whether she can get the support of local PoC leaders and politicians. The NY state democratic party is tightly knit and folks are are afraid to go against the party's candidate. There is a reason that no elected officials are running against Cuomo.

Maybe the right play for Nixon is to meet with non office-holding POC and community leaders, while accepting - but not chasing - office holders?

It seems like you (rightfully) pilloried Bernie for failing to do the kind of long term relationship building needed to get AA voters. CN's messaging may be better and I think that Cuomo is much more vulnerable than Hillary but is there are reason she won't have the same problem?

That interview suggests to me that Nixon is going to target the state’s black voters and try to dislodge them from support for Cuomo
