Southern states have the highest percentage of African-Americans in our nation. It’s only been systemic racism/discrimination, voter restrictions, voter suppression, and gerrymandering that has kept their large number from being reflected in appropriate proportion.

I think seeing so many Democrats not look like 20th century politicians and instead reflecting the constituency they represent is a huge step forward for our party. Obama was fresh and new when he ran. Now we have dozens of candidates who reflect a future looking party and nation
