raise your hand if you have ever witnessed a white male in a leadership position act “emotional” or “irrational” at work. 🙋🏾‍♀️

my story: a whole executive vice president cursed me out in an email because i wasn’t deleting negative comments on instagram. i had to laugh. 😂 it’s the internet. 🤷🏾‍♀️pic.twitter.com/D0jErUVnhy

a lot of stories on this thread. can’t say i’m surprised. but this is what i’m getting at. “leaders” that act this way don’t realize how it effects the people around them. yes, you can be emotional and irrational at work but don’t offload your feelings onto other people.https://twitter.com/Serevarno/status/1273670344012754945 …

I’m a white male, and with one exception, every white male that has been in a leadership position above me has acted in emotional and irrational ways that were detrimental to the employees working under them. Every. Single. One.

i specifically call out “leaders” because they’re the ones in positions of power. most individual contributors are not going to say anything because they’re afraid of consequences and the “leaders” know and take advantage of this.pic.twitter.com/zc95T1Fxmm

i specifically call out white men because there is a narrative that has been created that women, especially women of color—and more specifically, black women—don’t make great leaders.pic.twitter.com/ZMSGqndfFK

so some white males on this thread have identified themselves as the ones who have done this. a few things: • the goal here isn’t to shame white men for having their “moments”. we all do. • i want these “leaders” to understand how their actions impact the people around them.

        • now, if you continually have these “moments” and you don’t care about their impact on your team, i would encourage you to look in the mirror (and/or see a therapist). • also, reference this clip below (on behalf of all individual contributors everywhere)👇🏾pic.twitter.com/m2AWxPkkZc
