At news conference unveiling his police task force's recommendations, @SylvesterTurner declines to commit to supporting any specific proposals, saying only that all 104 recs are on the table. The mayor does say the city's police oversight board will be "significantly revamped."
Turner: "Before I start really coming in on any one or two items, let's digest the entire report. And let's look at it as a whole." Making a religious analogy, Turner adds, "You start picking out one scripture, you can take a whole lot of things out of context."
Turner, answering a reporter's question, stresses that he's only given the report "a quick read." Jokingly, he says: "I intended to read it last night, but I got distracted from some other things that were on the television last night, so I wasn't able to fully concentrate."
Turner: "There will always be critics. I'm not trying to appease people way on the left and I'm not trying to appease people way on the right. I'm trying to do what's in the best interest of the city of Houston."
