Ever wonder how the nervous system is able to coordinate your arms and legs? I'm excited to share new results where we provide a resource for mapping synaptic connectivity of motor control circuits in adult Drosophila, a promising model system for studying limb motor control.

When I did my rotation with and learned about how much amazing work is being done in connectomics, I knew I wanted to dive in. 3 years later, so many technological advancements in the field, still so much exciting work left to do.

More w/ lab preprints! developed + thoroughly characterised to label neurons inputting those in your favourite genetic lines (opposite to Tango system). Results across many live flies ≈ those from one dead EM’d one

I'd be happy to answer any questions about what we present in the preprint. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions or comments.

It's also a great time to be doing EM connectomics. Generating large EM datasets has traditionally been very slow and difficult, but I was lucky to join 's lab when was finishing development, which drastically accelerated the timescale of generating this dataset.

This has been a great project to work on. I'm deeply indebted to and for conceptualizing this project and entrusting it to me. Working on fly neuroscience has instilled in me a deep sense of wonder about how a nervous system so small can do so much.

Tweeprints have gained steam over the past year or two and I hope the trend continues! Great way to learn a bit about some topic that you might not have time to read in detail. Keep an eye out for a tweeprint about my work next week!

Optical illusions have always fascinated me. Our visual systems are doing such incredible computations to enable us to perceive what we see, and illusions sometimes give clues about what those computations are. This one definitely raises more questions than it answers though.

I wrote this up and posted. In some sense it is trivial, yet it is important. If you are using fluorescent reporters (GCAMP, dLight,....) and relating to behavioral events or neural activity, please read it and comment
