By now, many of the people laid off by Activision Blizzard have already been informed. In France, 400 Blizzard employees were told that 134 positions are being eliminated. But because of complex labor laws, it might take months before they learn who. News:https://kotaku.com/four-hundred-blizzard-france-employees-still-dont-know-1832619346 …

FWIW I'd way rather be in this position -- scared but informed -- than in the dark, the way Activision left all of its employees for months even as layoff rumors swirled. Would be nice to see more labor laws that force corporations to provide proper warning before mass layoffs

What about Cork? That might be complicated as well

they went through their downsizing 6-7 years ago i think. they've also had a voluntary redundancy program in place for years. think they were actually the test ground for the rest of Blizzard.

Hmm. I really dont like that you call worker protection laws "complicated", because they, you know, actually protect workers.

This isn't a euphemism - French labor law (Code du travail) is notoriously complicated. Few people understand it, and I believe it's long been a point of discussion in France how indecipherable it is

This is getting out of hand. We really need to start unionizing jobs in game development.

Geez, imagine waiting MONTHS to learn if you'll lose your job or not. Really feeling for all these employees
