Hello! I wrote a book called Press Reset: Ruin and Recovery in the Video Game Industry and it’s out TODAY!!! It’s about what happens to people when video game companies shut down. I’m very proud of it and I think you’ll really like it.

  2. Fascinating to see both CD Projekt (next Witcher) and BioWare (next Mass Effect) switch to Unreal Engine. Both companies have struggled with their own proprietary tech. Moving to Unreal may cost a lot but will also mean better documentation, more support, and easier recruiting

  4. Just finished Triangle Strategy — what a good game! It crosses the addictive battle system of Tactics Ogre with a Game of Thronesy story full of medieval political antics and a story that branches based on your ability to convince your party members to follow your way. Loved it

I can't believe this still needs to be explained but "innocent until proven guilty" is a legal concept and doesn't equate to "society should still treat you like every other person when more than 22 women have accused you of sexual misconduct or assault"

So the Cleveland Browns not only paid $230 million to a guy who is being sued by 22 women for sexual misconduct or assault, they structured the deal so that he'll still make $229 million even if he is suspended a year for being sued by 22 women for sexual misconduct or assault

I wrote about the statement today from Jimmy and Dee Haslam regarding the Browns signing Deshaun Watson and why it’s depressing and upsetting in all the expected ways.

A screenshot from an article on Defector.com. It reads: “What’s most difficult about Watson’s new contract is how it serves as reminder to anyone who cares about sexual violence and harassment that those wrongs, like so many wrongs, only count for so much in our society. You can be good enough at a lot of things, including football, and those in power will find a way to ignore what you have done because it’s convenient for them and their bottom line. This is not a new story for sports or our society. It is the same old story, the same old lesson, and what’s hardest is not knowing how many more times you and I must hear it and experience it and do our best to fight for change before those in power start finally to shift.”

I just combed my spam folder and found three (!!!) actual emails. You ever wonder how many important or interesting messages you will never see because of Gmail's algorithms? 🙃

Following months of interviews with developers from across three different, highly prestigious indie studios, here’s our investigation into the emotional abuse employees have been suffering at the hands of their founders.

Surreal to watch the NFL media apparatus breathlessly report on this guy’s trade sweepstakes when he has been accused by 24 — 24! — women of sexual misconduct or assault

“Added a function to record an icon and the name of an NPC on the map when you encounter that NPC” — oh yes! “Decreased the damage of spirit summoned when using the item Mimic Tear Ash and changed the spirit’s behavior pattern” — oh no

If you're struggling in Elden Ring, look up the Mimic Tear Ash — you need to have beaten Radahn but it's essentially a cheat code for the second half of the game, no matter your build

(My build was dex/str/vigor/endurance, powerstancing/dualwielding Morgott's Cursed Sword and Bloodhound's Fang and of course a Mimic's Tear Ash)

That's Elden Ring finished. Playtime: 95 hours. Found a build that annihilated everything toward the end, including some of the tougher optional bosses. Despite some technical issues, this was one of the greatest games I've ever played and I hope it influences many games to come
