Overall, this was more an exercise in data cleaning more than trying to really answer the question of if, or how, the

My two initial responses to seeing this compiled data: 1. What happened in 1980-82?! (the internet wasn't very helpful here). 2. We're seeing a lot more frequency in the last few years.

Note two other large limitations to this data viz: 1. This implies Albertans do not see impacts from forest fires in other provinces. Fact: they do. Not pictured here is 2017 and 2018's BC wildfires, which turned Alberta quite orange.

@YourAlberta has data going back to 1931, but it's not all digitalized; it only exists as microfilm. They have that data as geospatial data (GIS), but I don't have the tools to deal with that right now.Näytä tämä ketju
