“If history shows anything, it is that there's no better way to justify relations founded on violence than by reframing them in the language of debt—above all, because it immediately makes it seem that it's the victim who's doing something wrong." -David Graeber, Debt

I gotta give it to this guy, Trump never misses an opportunity to blame others for our problems. This is the opposite of what good leaders do. Instead of calling us to a higher moral responsibility & unified national solidarity, he unleashes our primal fears to devour our friends

Hanging with and so many other passionate people of faith tonight talking about "Christ in Crisis." The pathway forward is not rooted in the peril of fear or the division of difference but rather in the power of love.

When did so many Christians become more obsessed with "the truth" than they are with love? Y'all, I'll tell you this: Love is the truest Truth ❤️

On this Epiphany we are reminded that we journey to seek Jesus' Kingdom of Peace, not Caesar's kingdom of perpetual war. There is no "just war," there is only war & war always leads to suffering & death. In Jesus' kingdom there is no enemy - only love, only kin.

Billionaires "feeling demonized" about Warren's wealth tax are like white men complaining when women & POC demand change from the damaging impact of patriarchy & white supremacy. They are so accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression...but. they. are. not. oppressed.

Love music? Stand for Medicare for All? Then I've got a deal for you. Howie will give the person who gives the most to a candidate on this list (give to me of course) 1 vote for the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. How cool is that? 🗳️☑️🔥secure.actblue.com/donate/mfa-now

I get 5 votes. I'll give one to the person who makes the most generous contribution to one of the candidates campaigning on Medicare-for-All. It's a win-win. This list only. Ready, set, go! bit.ly/2znn7gV I'll e-mail the winner tomorrow
Dear fellow Christians: How can you clap and support this man when he betrays your beliefs? When nations go to war people die. Children die. People starve to death. Bombs destroy flesh and destroy futures. War is no playground - it is a massacre. Blessed are the peacemakers.

Yes - it is immoral that we are the richest nation in the history of the world and so many are living without healthcare, immoral that so many children live in poverty, immoral that we are protecting the rich while exploiting the poor. We need a moral economy. #DemDebate

Yes! We need a holistic tax structure that gives billionaires every opportunity to re-invest their wealth back into the lives of everyday Americans. Just see it as an opportunity instead of an obligation. "To much is given, much is required" (I can keep saying that)

This is a really important point that @ewarren is making: the ultra-rich make their money off accumulated wealth not income. That’s why you have to tax wealth not just income.

Taxes = schools, defense, infrastructure, healthcare, disaster aid...and so much more... "to much is given, much is required" They should be paying their faire share.

We need policies that lift up our farmers, not tear them down.

This thread is so important for white folks to read. While we embrace and celebrate forgiveness, it must not be used to veil injustice. I lament the environment where the black community is always needing to forgive white folk.
Quote Tweet
I have preached #forgiveness for 25 years, BUT using the willingness of Black people to forgive as an excuse to further victimize Black people is SINFUL. America should ask Black people forgiveness for serially asking African Americans to forgive sanctioned #PoliceBrutality.

If you hold a theology that views God as a totalitarian leader who is angry and will punish unbelievers then of course you will support totalitarian leadership in government that is angry and will punish outsiders.
