Parallels between Urbit and Red "[...] play it safe with JavaScript, Python, FANG stocks, or learn weird unfinished new languages that no one will pay you to use, except in obscure crypto tokens that might be of great value later... or not."

Made this list public today: It's for interesting note-taking-and-manipulating tools.

But FB private messages are (supposedly) encrypted, and that's the way it'd be done. Supposedly. Thinking about a social platform with DMs all cryptographically signed. Private by default, but I can show you (DM or 'retweet') what's in my inbox. And I can't fake its contents.

This is important. I recently spoke to someone who had made many requests for their personal data under GDPR and asked whether the companies checked it wasn't their (hypothetical) abusive ex-partner making the request. Many didn't, including some that held very sensitive info.

And we're back todo: - implement a theme that makes it look more blog-like than forum-like, cause a forum with only one poster looks like a failure (even though it's fine for my purposes) - implement frontpage to show selected good content w/ nice design

Today I cleaned the spam from my forum. Now I'm updating it to the latest version of phpBB. Operating Space is coming out of hibernation.

Although most media outlets are focusing on how Grindr shares personal data, the main headline should be "Thousands of adtech companies are illegally collecting and trading personal data on a massive scale".

More on Grindr, from last year: Concern over the fact that a Chinese company owns the app: risk of blackmail for VIPs with gay secrets.

But I've digressed from the privacy issue, to general online dating-bashing... Just went to OKCupid's settings page. There's nothing here about ad stuff. Where can I opt out of tracking?
