Thank you for this. (btw near the end the stats on black Americans in US prison don’t make sense to me - am assuming this is a Guardian typo).

No typo. The stats make sense. I break it down in a 2014 paper with Vesla Weaver. Almost 10% of the world's prison population comes from 38 million black Americans.https://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/01/12/is-the-united-states-a-racial-democracy/ …

I watched Schindler’s List last night. After the movie I did some Googling on Amon Göth (I’m sure you know all about him). Found out his granddaughter wrote a book. Had to order it.pic.twitter.com/Qnq4qnVVgw

My great-grandmother was 80 years old when she was dragged out of her nursing home and gassed at Treblinka. That was pretty close to Auschwitz.

Beautiful piece, Jason

The kernel of horrible tragedy-Auschwitz.The experience is layered within and branches outward touching generations affected by generations before it. In order to attempt to understand Auschwitz, one has to cut into wounded experiences of oneself & those connected with their past
