    There it is folks, the answer to most design impact/influence/value/importance/investment questions.

    A young and inspiring designer asked me for advice last night. I told him the one thing a designer needs to be great at (aside from creativity and skill) was understanding the business. You have to know the business needs inside and out. That’s when design can have real impact.
