Because corporations like put profits over human relationships and they don't take pragmatic solutions to issues like this. The sensible option would be to let her fly and deal with the payment issues later. But her mother is gone now.
My heart breaks for her. I sincerely hope we start to see real change in airline customer experience. I've encountered some wonderful service reps & employees at numerous airlines, including , but there is obviously much more progress to make.
