Apparently Elderdottir and I are getting each other Rasp Pis for Christmas. This should be fun. By fun, I've been out of programming for so long it's going to be a challenge for me to keep up with her.

Get the RP 3. It may be a few more dollars but the hardware is much faster.

I'm getting a 3, she's getting a Zero W. Specifically, I'm getting her an AIY Camera kit when the cardboard ships, and her mom suggested she get me the Voice (more up my interests). I only know this because buying electronics for a geek is impossible w/o their help.

Zero W! Nice! I'm assuming the smaller size is important for whatever project she's using it for? I've seen some crazy interesting projects involving Pi and drones -- like doing real-time facial recognition with a drone and a Pi.

The AIY Vision (sorry) is basically a Clips camera running on a Pi. So, you can also run Python scripts and have a couple GPIO to play with. The kit (that part not till after Christmas :/) includes a video ASIC that you can also train new vision models. aiyprojects.withgoogle.com/vision/#projec
