Question: if it wasn't software limited, a Tesla should be able to go almost (worse aerodynamics) as fast in reverse…right?

No. The reduction gear isn't designed for high speed reverse. Maybe tops 55-60mph?

I'm pulling this from memory but I believe Top Speed tested this theory on the Nissan Leaf. I'll see if I can find more details.
Looks like I was wrong and the top backwards speed was limited to human ability to steer! Is this true?
