$150,000 isn't enough to warrant wrecking your life, character, reputation and also the jail time for the felony once they eventually catch you. The anxiety of being on the run for the rest of your life for something that you will likely spend in less that 2 years isn't worth it.

Depends. These days, it's easy to switch jobs. Moreover, if your job sucks (no corporate loyalty) and you have no ties anchoring you, then it's probably worth taking the money and running.

I don't know the laws in Chile. In the US, I don't think it's "misappropriation" since he didn't cause the overpayment. There are other laws (state and federal) to recover overpayments, but there are often limitations.

Yeah I'm not sure what law this will fall under. Unjust enrichment? I don't even know if that is a felony. The company screwed up biglie though. Not sure how you even do that.
