Only Ethereum mining is done on GPU and it’s switching to proof-of-stake, supposedly in September, so GPUs influx is coming anyway

Correct! Bitcoin mining is done with asic's nowadays. Seems has no idea about mining.

I remember when we could buy brand new 1080TIs for under $500. With the price increase over the last few generations, I wonder if will ever return to that era.

Yeah I remember those days, too. However, I was able to pick up a 3060 ti recently for a somewhat decent price compared to what it had been selling for months earlier. Well, let's face it, not only were the prices astronomical but that's if you could even find it for sale.

My biggest problem when I want to buy a more expensive server is thinking, "If I just wait a couple months, that new CPU will be out."
But there's ALWAYS a new CPU right on the horizon.
