Can someone tell me why the Men's Maryland Basketball team isn't on the NCAA March Madness bracket?

Not a trick question -- just haven't really been following the past couple seasons. I just remember they used to be better apparently.
Is womens MD #4 seed?

The men have had a turbulent season, including the coach (Mark Turgeon) leaving in December. They never found their groove.
Women are #4, which is a pretty normal-low ranking for them. They've only had an okay season; they're usually a Top 10 team during the regular season.

I played for 9-10 years but quit in high school because (1) I wasn't good enough to get played for more than a couple minutes and (2) I preferred lacrosse and shifted to focus just on that. Basketball is still my favorite sport to watch.

That's awesome. I played basketball but never got into lacrosse -- but loved watching it. *sigh* I miss those days when things felt simpler.
