not overstate how dreadfully horrible Amazon support has been related to our Elasticsearch cluster. A simple reboot service ticket is now 9 hours old with no updates from Amazon. This is absolutely insane.

Looks like you already figured it out, but you can force a "reboot" by resizing. If it is stuck in the "Processing" state, this won't help.

Whatever you do, don't upgrade your elastic cluster to "OpenSearch", unless you want a world of pain from AWS
