Guns are as safe as the production quality of the gun / bullets combined with the experience and diligence of the shooter. They can be extremely unsafe or very safe depending on those factors. I keep hearing people blame Baldwin and these people obviously have no knowledge of

Typically, the armorer on set will check, double-check and triple check the condition of the gun before handing it to the talent. They are generally the last professional line of defense on a movie set. No one else on set besides the armorer / prop-master should ever be messing

with or touching a gun on a production set. They are paid for their professionalism in making sure the gun is in a specific condition before handing that gun to the talent. When "cold gun" is announced, that means a professional has verified the gun has no propellent / explosives
