Should job ads always include a salary range? 🤔

Most that I see have a “useless” salary range. I literally saw one that was 65,000 - 140,000.
Like what is that? 🤷♂️

That's not useless. Any range is helpful. Even bigger one than this. Still helps to frame the conversation.

It just feels like they're trying to bait 140k talent while reserving the right to offer them 65k.

We put a range in (maybe not that drastic) but we honestly don't use it to bait anyone. We try to compensate fairly based on experience. Right now it is extremely difficult to find good talent even when offering a lot of money.
I can dig that. I'm not anti-salary range. It's useful as a barometer for the kind of offer I can expect. But that one in particular isn't useful at all and just smells fishy.

That makes sense. I can see how that can be abused by employers. I think we'll tighten the range a bit for some of the positions we have posted.
