Can someone recommend an online course that walks you through the basics of machine learning including how to use ML within Python? (Or a good book if you can recommend one).

Yes, this is an excellent book, based on the awesome library keras, an API that greatly simplify the use of Tensorflow.

Several codingtrain videos...it's quite "beginner-friendly" but Dan manages to explain stuff really good. Easy to understand and fun. But to be fair, the current videos from the nature of code series on the topic barely scratch it, you maybe want something more detailed.
