Anyone have any recommendations for motherboards / Zen 3 CPU combos that support both PCIE 4.0 (Gen4) and 128 GB of RAM?
Do the newest Ryzen chips support 128 GB or do you need to go to Threadrippers / Epycs for that?

This site says that the Ryzen 9 5900x supports up to 128GB -- I'll have to verify.

The chips do, it's usually the boards that don't have enough RAM channels for that. You have to find a board that supports 4x32 GB modules. (And make sure the modules you want are actually on the supported memory list for that board!)

My B450 aorus pro and 2700 cpu runs great on 128GB. I had to update to a recent BIOS to get it to recognise all the ram. be sure check the motherboard manufacturers page.

Ryzen chips definitely support it, but regardless of x570 mobo I think you'd need to dial it in via bios. I use an ITX 32x2 set-up and it works great. Might be worth trying with one 32x2 + random 8GB stick to see if it goes above 64.
