I haven't been to a conference or traveled to meet friends / researchers at universities in over a year because of this damn pandemic. It is really aggravating.

My other work in the convention scene has all but ceased. No book promos, no talks, tours, or any other gatherings. Some cons won't make it. Others are going virtual, which means I get to see things I wouldn't have gotten to before. Some silver linings.

I'm really worried that some cons might permanently end because of the lack of funds to maintain them. My best guess is that we won't even begin a return to normalcy for another year or so. I doubt this summer we'll be ready to start doing public gatherings.

Same here. I've been attending more conferences though because they are remote
