Yep, RIP. My internet provider gave me a 6 month subscription to Spotify so I'm trying that alongside YT music.
I found a program to let me download all of the playlists I'd added to Google Music, but tbh the best part was the radios that brought me onto new music.

Any ideas why they killed it? It was definitely one of my favorite Google projects.

My wild, uninformed speculation is that the GPM team got into a turf war against the Youtube team and Youtube, having the highest clout, won.
The idea of tapping into YT for its music content is brilliant, but I think that YT didn't want anyone else tapping into their database.

It's the only thing that makes sense to me. GPM is clearly more polished in every way and it seems like it would have saved so much time to simply access an API of Youtube audio content vs rebuilding new web+mobile apps. Or maybe it was a licensing issue.

My opinion: Consolidation. There is a lot of duplication in Google products. Even I get confused. My latest confusion was Google Home vs. Nest.
