Democracy cannot sustain the current attitudes and worldviews that too many Americans share -- where facts take a backseat to sensationalism, conspiracy theories and disinformation.

I see this take a lot, and where i think it misses is 1) mode and approach to analysis, 2) style preference
if you've ever watched CNN cover tech, you know what I mean, they don't 'get it' where, I dunno, Wired does.

That is to say, its reasonable to have preferences in how news is presented and analyzed, I love NPR's delivery, but not their choices of who and how they conduct interviews.
More broadly, I prefer a materialist and critical analysis of news--which is hard to do w/o a left bent.

Being scared of observation, based on facts is what leads to reduced faith in the Democracy. Democracy can sustain the attitudes and worldviews of Americans who support each other and resist miss information and block dismantling well functioning democratic systems.

Early 2000s, the fear was focused around electronic voting systems. Today it's mail in ballots. What will it be in the next 20 years?
We have to acknowledge these fears, so we can build law around it. Georgia is a perfect example of this.
