has anyone ever had a tracking number's details completely disappear from the USPS system before? I swear that I had looked at tracking for a card that I shipped out late March/del early April in May, and now those details are gone.

USPS Tracking details will generally age out at the 6 month point but I've seen tracking details for a number age out in ~4 months. Also depends on the shipping type, but First Class and Priority seem to age out slightly faster than Express (overnight).
