And people say our dev team is paranoid for insisting on using a self-hosted chat service and sending credentials of any kind only in OTR mode, i.e. end-to-end encryption between exactly two people.

We would share credentials in a pinch, but we always did it via sideband. We'd send a piece over one chat and another piece over a different chat.
