Did Microsoft sabotage Skype for Business? 7 IT pros on my team are all suffering trying to install and log in. Does it work anymore for anyone in the world?

my org is abruptly switching from webex to skype 4 business. What is failing is the office 365 client downloads & authenticating to active directory & asking all the developer end users to modify the hosts files. I'm imaging it is all rainbows for regular skype.
