Man those babies clock in around 5 MHz, that's 5 million hertz, million, with an M, oof that's some speed right there!

Kinda crazy that it takes 50 million steps to show me a pixel on the screen for a modern video game. (Of course, most of those steps are re-used when showing the other 2 million pixels, and many of those steps are "wait for a slower thing", but still...)

In one of our videos, one of the question regarding cpu cycles and speed was could mouse movement have any noticeable effect. And we did some back of the envelope math where during a very fast mouse movement, there would be millions of cpu cycles. Kinda blew the other guys mind.

Normal PC users generally don't grasp the speeds modern day CPUs are working at, even single threaded. It's fun to go into that subject.

I've always wondered with modern games what the GPU is responsible for (besides graphics) compared to the CPU and what game physics are offloaded to the GPU for handling.
Are most of the physics in games handled by the CPU? Also, most games seem to use one core -- I'm guessing that's because multi-threaded code for games can get very complicated quickly.

Nah its mostly multicore now. CPU can do the physics, but it's often batched up and send to the GPU. CPU is often doing the mundane tasks (which there are a lot) and then creating batches of commands for the GPU.
