I think misinformation includes information that is "correct" but taken out of context, exaggerated or otherwise used in a way that makes it mean something it didn't. Disinformation is wrong (often deliberately wrong). Both are usually shared to further an agenda.

For me, it is very difficult to differ the meanings of those words maybe because I am not a native English speaker. When I see either misinformation and disinformation in texts, my mind automatically maps them to *polluted information*.

In my head (which translates them in 🇬🇷): misinformation(‘παραπληροφόρηση’)~a broader term to cover the concerted attempt of disseminating false information|disinformation(‘ψευδής πληροφόρηση’)~the act of intentionally giving false information on a specific matter.

The words mean the same thing in my head, but when I think about the context in which I hear the two words: disinformation - spycraft, propaganda, government level desception misinformation - YouTube/Facebook/Twitter conspiracy, anti-vaxx, false covid cures.
