If you directly couple the speaker movement to the ground vs the air gap, it needn't be loud on the surface.
A Richter 2/Mercati I, the seismographs could 'hear' it at 5 miles but people wouldn't even notice

Concerts certainly show up on seismograms as detailed in nature.com/articles/s4159 but primarily as low-frequency sounds related to ground vibration
