This was done by matching any tweets with "coronavirus" (case-insensitive) in the tweet body text. Data was collected using the Twitter search API.
So if a tweet had #coronavirus or coronavirus, it would match. Technically, if the tweet had coronavirus12345 it would still match.
I basically did:
if 'coronavirus' in tweet['full_text'].lower():
process(tweet)
