If any researchers interested in social sciences and social media platforms are interested, I'm collecting a dataset on kobe with Twitter data. From what I can see, this is the single largest celebrity death that I've seen on Twitter. The volume is just unreal.

It will take me around 4-5 days just to collect all the data, but there are sustained volumes approaching 1,000-1,500 tweets per second after the news broke on his death.

I'd have to go back and look at that one. When did Jobs pass away?

Twitter data wont be enough. Southern California will be mourning for a long time 💛💜

I’d be interested in looking at information propagation (RT diffusion). I might compare it to terror attacks and see if the info prop behaviour has similar patterns.

Also incredibly interested. How are you disambiguating Kobe the celebrity from other linguistic usage though?
