My big question is: 1) can it be a gamma ray burster? 2) if yes, what are odds it will point this way? WE ARE WELL IN THE KILL ZONE! 😍 (only 642.5ly away!😍) 3) how soon might we be bathed in HEMISPHERE+ STERILIZING GAMMA RADIATION?

Today, I saw that a lot of astronomers/astrophysicists were talking about #Betelgeuse . Indeed, according to many, Betelgeuse luminosity seems to be quite low. Some say it’s extraordinary, others say it happens quite often, but all (secretly or not) hope for a supernova. 1/7

Betelgeuse is insufficiently massive to produce a GRB. It will merely be a supernova. Should we see it become so any time soon, it will only be about as bright as the full Moon (just concentrated into a dot).
