Is there a way to turn off Twitter's auto-update? God it can be annoying.

My secret: scroll back 1/2 to 1 tweet. It won't update if it's not at the top of the page.

Use TweetDeck and scroll down slightly so tweets and updates don't come blasting through until you want them to.
