#reddit's ever growing SPAM issue. Over the past three days, 20 out of the top 25 most active subreddits (by comment volume) have been all SPAM. There is currently more comment SPAM hitting #reddit than actual non-spam comments -- sometimes causing site traffic to spike 4x.

Is this a significantly higher spike than normal, or has the spam quantity merely been increasing gradually?

This weekend seems to have been a particularly busy weekend in terms of the amount of spam over the three day period. I would definitely put it up there with one of the top 5 most active spam periods for Reddit over that range of time. Great question!
