- Why is it so hard to get access to public data? Primary example: Page Public Content Access. It's in no way sensitive content what parties and organizations publish on Facebook.

Reactivating the old API (or something similar) with access to public pages' public posts would actually mean that public would have access too.

And we all understand that parts "had" to be restricted. But shutting it all down didn't make any sense.

Tagging since she has experience with Facebook in the past and this is something we've been actively discussing.
Facebook API access needs to come back - there is no way to study the platform systematically anymore. They threw the baby out with the bathwater and blamed everything on CA, but they had already announced critical API changes (ex: groups) in Jan 2018 well before CA story broke.
