It's important for science that an architecture is tested thoroughly and approved which includes the OS to help prevent things like this from happening. This is an edge case but it's important to be aware that simply taking code to a new OS may have major implications.

I'm amusingly reminded of Zaxxon, which was a great game, but the nimrods used the PC clock speed for timing, and PC/XT -> PC/AT more than doubled the game speed & became unplayable. Like 2 seconds before you ran into the first barrier.
