My Twitter analytics page tells me that my follower count has been exactly constant since September 14, but that it went up by over 4,000 on Septermber 13.
Either September 13 was one heck of a day, or Twitter has a bug somewhere... :-)

That's very interesting ... There are some other methods to dive into the data that might give more clues.
