Really interesting question on parents surveilling their children through tracking devices. Panelists argue that this can normalise surveillance to the put where teenagers engage in it in romantic relationships. I.e. it normalises stalking. #AoIR2019

An important point here about privacy.
I know of couples who have tracking devices on each other so they know where each other are at all times. I love my partners but couldn't think of much worse.

I do, too -- what about the perspective of safety? What if the wife got carjacked or kidnapped? Having that sort of tracking might have positive benefits. But I agree, it can be abused most certainly.

Yeah, I see the potential positives. It even goes to the mundane -- a colleague said that if a member of the family is close to the shops they can quickly ask them to pick something up.
But, re safety, I think those fears (at least where I am) are so unlikely it's not worth it.
