Over the past 8 hours, 6 of the top 10 most active subreddits on #reddit have been 100% spam. The top 4 subreddits are spam subreddits.

My guess here is that there trying to do something to take advantage of Google's search algo to boost results to their online sports video pages, etc. It's a good question -- I'm not sure exactly how it works but that's the working theory right now.

Ah I see. I was thinking from the perspective of a Reddit user, but your theory makes a lot of sense.

The weird thing is that Reddit shadowbans the comments -- you can't even really see them. Briefly via their API -- that's why my daily graphs for Reddit sometimes look strange (spam bursts).
