I just talked to my brother for the first time since getting engaged. To say it did not go well would be a significant understatement. It was not a surprise, and yet, expectation does not exactly soften these things.

so sorry that you are in this position. What I can say is that I know you are a wonderful and charismatic person and that you obviously have a desire to mend the relationship and make it better -- but perhaps that isn't something he cares as much for which is very unfortunate ...
Just remember that you have a lot of people that do care about you and love you and that sometimes life puts us in the weirdest places with respect to our family members. I do hope that the future will bring him some understanding and self-reflection so that perhaps one day ...
