How far back in time could I take a modern laptop and smartphone before I had to worry about getting shot, stabbed, burned, etc. for being a witch?

Yeah I think 18'th century is when it would be too foreign. Maybe Ben Franklin would understand some basic concepts "You know that shock you got when flying that kite -- we made this from that."

I’d be as worried about how into witch burning the culture was at the time; a modern T-shirt might have caused you to be burned in the 1600s :)
