Have you done any work on detecting changes in topic frequently to find new trends? Each plot is a one-off, a good take, but labor intensive. If you could find a bunch of them you could run analysis and see each genesis. How many are earthquakey (sudden) vs Epstieny (slow burn)?

Not yet -- yeah these are one offs. I'm working on building more functionality to the tweet ingest to account for global activity without having to get all tweets (which isn't very feasible at the moment).

In the investing world, they have a thing called alpha - effectively the informational, analytical or computational tools that you have and others don't. For these projects I've found it useful to look for alpha, even if the goal is to share it with everyone!
