Have you done any work on detecting changes in topic frequently to find new trends? Each plot is a one-off, a good take, but labor intensive. If you could find a bunch of them you could run analysis and see each genesis. How many are earthquakey (sudden) vs Epstieny (slow burn)?

You'd have to account for the daily/hourly tweet cycle for sure though. I'd look into the python package Prophet for that one.
