I'm hearing reports of people being locked out of their homes and not being able to use their thermostats because of the Google outage. If your product doesn't have a fallback for when the internet goes down, that is poor engineering. IoT should compliment existing functionality.

Google has bricked my thermostat more than once by pushing a buggy software update that drains the battery.
