When using certain translation programs, why does switching back and forth again and again between the same two languages eventually produce pure gibberish?

Natural languages encode different things (eg jp obligatory encodes rank, english encodes tense) words (lexemes) have different ranges (i.e. different dictionary definition lists) & machine translators are doing stats tricks, & make no use of context-ie common sense or knowledge
