I am giving a 20 minute volcano talk to high school students this weekend. If you were them, what would you want to hear me talk about?
This is my tired brain asking for ideas help.
As a science nerd, I'd love to hear comparisons for just how much energy is released / involved with large scale eruptions (VEI-6+). How do large scale eruptions affect global climate? What dangers are there near a volcano pre-eruption (gasses, etc.).
As a scientist, what was the most shocking thing you learned within your field that went against all personal intuition? What does it "high" mean when the USGS labels such for a volcano threats? What do we know today about volcanoes that we didn't in the 60's / 70's?
