Large corporations like github/red hat aren't alternative societies, they are all funded by the same small number of people, same banks, same institutions. Tech in general has the luxury (profit margins) to not be too evil. 1/2

Nonprofits *are* alternative societies. Mozilla Fndtn is a good example. But they don't have the same access to capital, so even a small amount of OS economic activity in the for-profit sector is going to be larger than the non-profit sector. 2/2
